FLORIDA - A proposed homeless shelter that would also house former inmates will not be allowed to open here. The Suwannee County Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment voted unanimously Thursday to deny a zoning special exception that would have allowed the shelter to operate on US 129 about four miles south of Live Oak. Nearby landowners came out in force to speak out against the shelter, including Erny Sellers, a local attorney who served as spokesperson for the neighbors. Scott Heburn, a local minister who proposed to operate the facility, had no one to speak on his behalf except Judy Ascough, one of the landowners seeking the special exception. |
