MARYLAND - The Prince George's County Department of Corrections was awarded a three-year professional renewal of accreditation by the American Correctional Association, which certifies the nation's jails and prisons. The association's Commission on Accreditation for Corrections presented the award May 18 at a ceremony in Alexandria. The department achieved 100 percent on all 58 mandatory standards and 95.8 percent on 324 non-mandatory standards. The award followed a three-day comprehensive audit in April. Auditors inspected the standards and operational practices of the department's administration, management, physical plant, programs and services for inmates. Read more.
