COLORADO - The state Department of Corrections is hunting for a new home for its Colorado Springs-based central office - and it wants its host to grease the move. The prison system's office houses 240 employees from its administrative and support services in a 65,000-square-foot building in southeast Colorado Springs, but officials say the agency's quickly outgrowing those quarters. The agency says it needs about 100,000 square feet, and last month it requested proposals from locations in Douglas, El Paso, Pueblo and Fremont counties. The deadline for offers is June 18. Proximity to Interstate 25, state highways and arterial roads is preferred, but the winning candidate may be the one offering the best perks. Read more.
