| Churches' help sought to grow drug courts |

MISSOURI - The former director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy enlisted the help of the religious community May 30 in the expansion of drug courts across the country. Retired U.S. Army Gen. Barry R. McCaffrey cited a study that concluded nearly 1.5 million people arrested on drug charges in the United States could have benefitted from the special supervised treatment of drug courts rather than serving prison time or probation sentences dispensed by traditional courts.
