| Ex-worker sues over training injury |

FLORIDA - A former Florida Department of Corrections officer has filed a lawsuit against the department for what he claims was an intentional shoulder injury at the hands of his co-workers. According to Port St. Lucie resident Shane Horton’s lawsuit, filed Monday in Martin County Circuit Court, a fellow DOC employee injured Horton’s shoulder during a Jan. 30, 2006, training session involving “prisoner extraction.” A fellow DOC employee followed a captain’s instruction and struck Horton “with extreme force,” throwing him to the ground.
