Feds sue state DOC over back pay

WASHINGTON - The federal government has sued the state Department of Corrections over back overtime pay for employees. In a lawsuit filed June 6 in federal court in Tacoma, the U.S. Department of Labor seeks two years of back overtime wages for about 870 community correction employees.

Department of Corrections official Karen Daniels says the lawsuit comes from a 2007 audit on whether community correctional officers were being paid properly. A U.S. Department of Labor spokesman declined to comment. Read more.
