| County's jail plans on track |

VIRGINIA - Patrick County’s efforts to build a new jail are back on track, according to Del. Ward Armstrong, D-Collinsville. The Virginia Board of Corrections has approved the needs assessment for the new county jail, Armstrong said Wednesday. That was possible because the current state budget, which will expire June 30, had language in it to allow the jail to go forward for the needs assessment, he said. “As long as they got everything done by June 30, we didn’t need a new amendment in the new budget” that takes effect July 1, he said.
