| County divided over jail cuts |

WASHINGTON - King County Executive Ron Sims has a decidedly sunny outlook on at least one department budget -- that of the King County Jail. "We have other challenges within criminal justice and the jail isn't one of them," Sims said. But County Sheriff Sue Rahr and Prosecutor Dan Satterberg have an altogether different view. For the past two weeks, they have been sounding the alarm about looming budget cuts, including $8.9 million slashed from the jail's budget. Read more.
