| Crime victims can sue authorities |

NEW ZEALAND - Relatives of victims of crimes committed by offenders under the care of New Zealand prison authorities have welcomed a new chance to sue the authorities created by a Supreme Court ruling. The Supreme Court has decided to allow the sole survivor of a triple murder committed at an Auckland returned services club to sue the Corrections Department. Last week the court upheld Susan Couch's appeal for the right to sue Corrections for damages after she was badly injured by William Bell when he went on a killing spree at the Mt Wellington-Panmure RSA in 2001 while on parole.
