| Prison bill gets senate backing |

NIGERIA - A bill seeking improve condition of prison inmates was advanced in the Senate yesterday. The legislative proposal received support from Senators with some of them, including Senators Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello and Awiasu Kuta narrating personal harrowing experiences in incarceration as reason for their support for the reform of the prison system. The bill titled, A Bill to Establish a National Parole System in Nigeria Prison and Matters Connected Therein, sponsored by Senator Tafildan Arugungu (PDP, Kebbi North) is aimed towards decongesting the nation's 316 prisons.
