| Prisoners call off hunger strike |

SOUTH AFRICA - The hunger strike by a group of awaiting-trial prisoners at the Kroonstad prison in the Free State is over, correctional services said on Tuesday. Spokesperson Puleng Mokhoane said all the prisoners who took part in the hunger strike at the Kroonstad medium B prison had started eating again. "They all had supper yesterday (Monday)." Mokhoane said the Kroonstad regional court also did their part and four of the 16 awaiting-trial prisoners who initially started with the hunger strike last week also appeared in court on Monday.
