VIRGINIA - Supervisors passed a resolution last night that is critical of the State Department of Corrections for contributing to overcrowded jails in the state, including the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The resolution states that the Department of Corrections failed to pick up 2,130 inmates within the required 60 days. This lapse cost the jail $70,290. Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Stafford and King George share the jail budget. The overcrowding, nearly double capacity at times, puts jail employees at risk.
