ISLE OF MAN - THE new prison governor's most urgent priority is the move from Victoria Road to Jurby. Alison Gomme took up the post on June 16 and said: 'Everyone has been very welcoming, very warm, very positive and very encouraging.' Prior to taking on the job, Mrs Gomme governed four prisons – Erlestoke Prison 1993-1995, Chelmsford Prison 1996-2000 and Hewell Grange and Brockhill Prisons, near Redditch, from 2004-2008. She acknowledged there were a number of new Isle of Man-specific procedures she needed to learn. 'We need to find Manx solutions to Manx problems, it is not just about importing stuff,' she said.
