MARYLAND - Prince George's County police say an off-duty police officer for the Defense Department died when his car collided with a county Corrections Department van. It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday at Landover Road and Kilmer Street in the Landover area. Police say the van was carrying two corrections officers and three inmates. They say one officer was seriously injured and taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and the second was taken to an area hospital and later released. Police did not immediately release the name of the Defense Department officer, pending notification of his family. They also did not release the cause of the crash. Read more.
