State boosts hunt for sex offenders

WISCONSIN - As many as 50 of Wisconsin's "most wanted" sex offenders will soon find their pictures highlighted on a state Web site. The posting, which is planned for later this summer, is part of an ongoing effort to track sex offenders who haven't complied with state registration requirements. Information on the state's most serious offenders, including their photos, has been posted online since October 2006.

"It was intended to highlight some of the more dangerous, high-profile registrants that were currently noncompliant with the registry so we could make them more visible to the general public, who hopefully would be able to assist us in tracking these individuals down," said Melissa Roberts, director of sex offender programs for the state Department of Corrections.
