OKLAHOMA - Construction on a community corrections center damaged by a 2003 tornado is expected to be complete by fall as inmate work crews begin working and living at the facility. Members of the Oklahoma Board of Corrections approved a measure that starts the process of putting the Clara Waters Community Corrections Center back into use. Commissioners voted to approve an 80-bed capacity at the facility. The 80 beds are for members of a prison construction crew that will finish building the correctional center. The Clara Waters facility, located along the west service road of Interstate 35 between Hefner and Britton roads, was nearly destroyed in a May 2003 tornado. About 80 percent of the facility was damaged. The roof was peeled off some buildings and every building on the campus was marred. Read more.
