MASSACHUSETTS - Responding to complaints about gaps in the care of the estimated 100,000 children in Massachusetts who need mental health services, top lawmakers on Beacon Hill yesterday vowed to pass a bill that would increase screenings and give schools and other organizations better tools to help. The bill also would reduce the number of mentally ill children staying in institutions by providing more community-based services, while improving insurance coverage. Read more.
