Governor urges maximum terms

VERMONT - The administration of Gov. James Douglas said Tuesday the governor would call a special session of the Legislature if there is agreement beforehand on what changes in the state's sex offender laws should be considered.

The governor also has told employees of the Department of Corrections to recommend judges not grant early release of any sex offender before they have served their maximum sentence while an internal review of the department is conducted, administration officials said. Read more.
