Treatment, work dilemma leads to jail

WASHINGTON - A convicted sex offender was ordered to prison Tuesday because she didn't bring home enough money working in the fields to pay for her required weekly counseling. Jaquilin E. Miranda, 24, said if she had known she'd end up back in court on these violations, she would have agreed to prison in the first place instead of a special sentence.

She asked to be handed over to the state Department of Corrections as soon as possible so she could get the four-year, three-month sentence over with.

"This is a sad and somewhat problematic case," defense attorney Dan Arnold told the court, saying his client missed appointments with her probation officer because she was busy working. "...It just comes down to money." Read more.
