| Minister: Tasers not a good jail option |

SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA - Tasers are effective, but not a good use of force in Saskatchewan's jails, according to the province's corrections minister. Darryl Hickie, who is responsible for corrections, public safety and policing - and who is a former officer - was the latest official to weigh in Tuesday on the use of the controversial energy devices. "At the present time I don't believe it's a good use of force option in our correctional facilities," Hickie told The Canadian Press. "We have a very highly trained staff contingent of people who can deal with our offenders if the need does arise and I don't think a Taser at this time is a required level of force." Read more.
