NORTH CAROLINA - A committee made up of county commissioners, department heads and courthouse and sheriff’s office officials has recommended the commissioners proceed with the first two phases — planning and site selection — of a new or expanded Davidson County Detention Center. “We’re ready to begin the first phase, planning, which is the number of beds, the number of pods and site-selection recommendation,” County Purchasing Director Dwayne Childress told commissioners at their meeting Thursday morning.
