| City council seeks Taser funding approval |

FLORIDA - The city council is looking at appropriating funds to buy tasers for corrections officers and bailiffs. The hearing will be held during the Public Health and Safety committee meeting. The $550,000 would buy 500 tasers for corrections officers and bailiffs in Duval County. The ordinance was first introduced July 22 and has passed through two readings. A Sheriff's Office spokesperson says the funding, which would come from the Spec. Law Enforcement Trust Fund, is merely the last step of a plan several years in the making to put tasers in the hands of officers.
