| Corrections to sell more land |

ALABAMA - If it's not nailed down in Alabama's Department of Corrections, it's probably for sale. The prison system is strapped for cash, and doing whatever it can to make the money that the state can't give it. Corrections is selling thousands of acres of land around the state to generate money for the upkeep of a system in which the average prison is 34 years old. Corrections Commissioner Richard Allen said his department needs an estimated $94.4 million to bring all of its facilities up to acceptable codes. Read more.
