KANSAS - Shawnee County commissioners are being asked to create 15 full-time jobs for corrections specialists at the county's juvenile detention center to cope with the growing number of youthful offenders being held there. Commissioners Shelly Buhler, Vic Miller and Ted Ensley will consider that request and pleas for funding to create four other full-time county jobs when they meet. County department heads are requesting the jobs be funded as part of their proposed 2009 budgets. Commission approval is needed for the jobs to remain in those budgets, though commissioners could later decide not to fill all or some of them.
