| Mont. DOC wins Gang Unit award |

MONTANA - Recently, the Northwest Gang Investigators Association (NWGIA) held its Spring Conference in Spokane, Wash. and awarded the 2007 Corrections Gang Unit of the Year to the Montana Department of Corrections (MDOC). The NWGIA encompasses Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. With over 200 members, the group is a wealth of information and is an invaluable resource in identifying, documenting, tracking, and managing gangs and gang members both on the streets and in the prison systems throughout the Greater Northwest. Seeing the benefit the NWGIA offers, Lt. Dan Hess, MDOC's STG Coordinator led the effort in establishing the Montana STG Task Force. This group is made up of a cross-section of law enforcement based people from throughout the state of Montana including CCA's Crossroads Correctional Center (CCC) in Shelby. Lt Hess informed all members that since it was a group award, a letter would be completed describing the award with the entire Task Force's names on it and it would be forward to the agencies for their files.
