CALIFORNIA - The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department will know Sept. 18 just how big its proposed new jail will be, the undersheriff said Wednesday. Standing in front of the rolling oak covered hills that will someday be home to the million facility, Mike Walker, said the department will find out exactly how much it will get in state jail construction funds from the Corrections Standard Authority.
