| GPS helps track down sex offender |

NORTH CAROLINA - Maurice Dupree Murdock of Statesville was arrested for tampering/altering a GPS tracking device, which is a felony. Murdock, a registered sex offender in Iredell County, is required by the N.C. Department of Corrections to wear a GPS tracking device. Sgt. Chris Nitzu of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Special Victim's Unit received information on Aug. 21 by the Division of Community Correction from Raleigh that Murdock could not be located via this device.
