Two inmates who escaped earlier this week from a Delaware work release facility have been arrested in Saint George after leading police on a short chase. Investigators think the men and two female teenagers were on their way to Florida in a stolen vehicle and were casing hotels near Interstate 95. Saint George police Lieutenant Quintion Joyner says 20-year-old Wilbur L. Medley the third and 25-year-old Donald P. Phillips were arrested last Wednesday after a motel clerk called in about a Jeep Cherokee circling the parking lot. Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped away and led police on a short chase before the Jeep hit a ditch. The men and a 14-year-old girl who was with them ran away. Deputies searched with dogs to track down the trio. Medley and Phillips have been charged as fugitives and are awaiting extradition. |
