| Jails scrutinized after prison break |

SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA - A search for weapons and other illegal items was under way yesterday in all corrections facilities across Saskatchewan after a big jail break. Corrections Minister Darryl Hickie said in a news release that he also ordered all jails inspected for structural problems that could aid future escapes. He said prison directors were told to call in enough staff to complete the inspections as quickly as possible. Six prisoners broke through a brick wall and breached a security fence at the Regina Correctional Centre on Sunday. A weapons cache was later found. Five of the inmates, some of whom face murder charges, were still at large. Police said they should be considered dangerous. Read more.
