| Sheriff to reimburse employees driving official cars |

FLORIDA - The Marion County Sheriff's Office will reimburse deputies and other employees who had to start paying to drive their department vehicles home after a mid-year budget cut this spring. Corrections officers at the jail also will be reimbursed for the elimination of their disparity pay during those same budget cuts. Those corrections officers had received a $1,000 annual stipend because they could not drive department vehicles home. Back in March, Sheriff Ed Dean decided to take away the corrections officers' disparity pay and started charging deputies $100 a month to drive their department vehicles home as part of a $1.57 million cut to the department's budget.
