| National command academy developed |

TEXAS - The American Jail Association and the Correctional Management Institute of Texas have joined to develop the first National Jail Leadership Command Academy, which will be held next year in the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center at Sam Houston State University. The pilot program of the academy will be held March 1-7, 2009. Another academy will take place the following October. The training academy is designed for mid-management jail personnel who wish to acquire leadership skills that will prepare them for senior management positions in jail administration. “The academy will offer significant opportunities for corrections professionals in the state of Texas and across the nation to advance their careers,” said Doug Dretke, executive director of the Correctional Management Institute of Texas.
