A 15-year-old, possibly violent, juvenile offender escaped from police custody Tuesday afternoon, reported NewsChannel5.
According to police, the teenager was being transported in a van back to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center after a doctor's appointment for a broken leg.
He was handcuffed but his legs were not shackled because of the cast on his leg.
He reportedly dropped his crutches when getting out of the van and escaped down Cedar Avenue on Cleveland's east side.
Cleveland police and County Sheriff's deputies are searching the surrounding neighborhoods.
The teen is a black male, is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 137 pounds. He has tattoos on his left arm, left shoulder and lower right arm, and is wearing a blue jump suit with the letters "CCJDC" printed on it.
He is most likely still wearing handcuffs.
The youth's record is extensive, including charges on theft, assault, vandalism and drugs.
