| Ex-offenders get help restoring right to vote |

FLORIDA - Getting people registered to vote in time for the Nov. 4 presidential election, especially ex-offenders who need to have their civil rights restored in order to register to vote, is a focus of the Marion County Voters Registration Coalition. A workshop set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lillian Bryant Recreation Center, 2200 N.W. 17th Place, will help ex-offenders with the process, whether it be checking the state database for individual status or completing paperwork in some cases, and actually registering ex-offenders who have had their rights restored. Whitfield Jenkins, voter coalition director, said state Sen. Tony Hill, D-Jacksonville, conducted a similar workshop in Jacksonville and offered to help the local effort.
