| Jail might reduce beds |

MICHIGAN - The Livingston County sheriff is considering reducing his jail bed space about 24 percent as his department grapples with more than $1 million in budget cuts. The impact could be huge considering the jail chronically faces overcrowding, illustrated as recently as Tuesday with the early release of 18 inmates due to overcrowding. The prospect of releasing more prisoners didn't sit well with David Domas, chairman of the county commissioner's Public Safety Committee. "That is an option I consider undesirable," he said.
