| New site possible for jail |

NEW YORK - The Herkimer County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee has turned its attention to another, familiar, property to house a proposed county jail, the P and C site on Route 28 in the village of Herkimer. Legislator Jeff Stone raised a motion that passed 4-2 to have the property appraised for $4,000 on Monday at the public safety committee’s meeting. The committee members who voted against the motion were Legislators Dennis Korce and Joseph Chilelli. Stone said the site contains 14 acres of land, 10 of which are usable.
