MICHIGAN - A requested 5.4 percent in budget cuts for general fund-financed county departments in 2009 could mean big changes for Livingston County residents. Departments have been submitting their proposed budgets to the County Board of Commissioners since the beginning of the month, but what are expected to be some of the more contentious battles — the Sheriff’s Department and Prosecutor’s Office — will come forward next week. “We’ve totally eliminated our extradition budget,” Prosecutor David Morse said. “We won’t have any means of bringing back anyone that flees the state.” Read more.
