| Trustees OK agreement with juvenile board |

ARKANSAS - Tyler ISD trustees, in a 5-1 vote, approved an agreement between the Smith County Juvenile Board and TISD for the 2008-09 school year with regard to students the district can send to the county's Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). The juvenile board also has the same agreement with other school districts in the county, which are also bringing it to their school boards for approval. The agreement was the result of months of work to reach a compromise. Under the agreement, the juvenile board limits the types of "discretionary" students school districts can send to the program, but lowers the daily rate per student school districts are charged for sending "discretionary" students to the JJAEP to $125.
