TEXAS - For families with loved ones in the Dallas County jails, it's going to get a lot cheaper to accept collect calls. But until the new phone system installation is complete, some inmates may experience problems making a call from inside the jails. That happened to one mother, Sandy McCleary, who said her daughter, Jennifer VanVickle, wrote her a letter saying she was unable to place a collect call. McCleary said she last heard from her daughter on Sept. 14. VanVickle, 38, is in the north tower jail at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center. Read more.
