FIJI - The computer lab at the Naboro Prisons is richer by eight new computers that would be used for the rehabilitation program of inmates. The kind donation was made by ANZ Bank on Monday under its Project Butterfly that aims to recycle computers throughout the country. Commissioner of Prisons Brigadier Iowane Naivalurua said the new computers was a blessing for the prisons department which was in need of more computers. "We had 10 computers and we wanted to bring it up to 20. So having eight more new ones brings us closer to our target. The computers are used as part of the training for the inmates and the staff as well. Our aim is to have 83 percent of computer literate staff. They will then be responsible for giving basic computer training to the inmates as part of the rehabilitation program. Some of the inmates I must say are very talented in the IT field," said Mr Naivalurua. Read more. If link has expired, check the website of the article's original news source. |
