SCOTLAND - Prisons will need extra funding if inmate numbers remain at their current level, MSPs will be warned today. Ministers have earmarked £454.7million for prisons in 2009-10, up from £441.3m in 2008-09. Mike Ewart, chief executive of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS), said that would be enough if numbers do not rise above the projected 7600.
