PENNSYLVANIA - An inmate lockdown has ended and things are returning to normal at the state prison in Pittsburgh where phone and computer service had been knocked out by water from a broken washing machine. The phone and computer service was restored late Tuesday, so the lockdown that affected 1,500 inmates at the State Correctional Institution-Pittsburgh is over. Department of Corrections officials say the washer broke Monday at the Riverside Community Corrections Center, a halfway house that also contains administrative offices for the prison. Water from the second-floor washer leaked down into a room containing phone and computer equipment. Crews spent most of Tuesday fixing those problems. |
