NEW YORK - Sheriff Carl DuBois Tuesday announced that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has received $233, 214 as a SCAAP grant for the last federal fiscal year. SCAAP, The State Criminal Assistance Program, is administered by the federal government and reimburses states and counties for holding illegal aliens who are charged with crimes. Any illegal alien who has been convicted of one felony or two misdemeanors and has spent four consecutive days in the custody of the jail can be claimed for reimbursement.
