| Judge denies AFSCME request |

ILLINOIS - A judge in Livingston County Wednesday afternoon refused to issue a temporary restraining order that would have prevented the Illinois Department of Corrections from moving 100 inmates from Pontiac Correctional Center to other institutions in the next 10 days. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 31 had sought in Livingston County Circuit Court to obtain a temporary restraining order that would stop Gov. Rod Blagojevich from doing what is viewed as the beginning of the closing of PCC. Blagojevich had announced in May that he wanted the facility closed by early next year. Officers at PCC were notified last Friday that 50 inmates from the Medium Security Unit would be moved this Friday to East Moline Correctional Center and another 50 would be moved a week from Friday to Taylorville Correctional Center.
