COLORADO - Pueblo City Council President Barb Vidmar believes her city is the right choice for the new state Department of Corrections headquarters and wants legislators to intervene if necessary. The department has recommended the headquarters stay in Colorado Springs. Pueblo offered the state $1.5 million in tax incentives to build the new headquarters in the city. Pueblo leaders say their city is the best choice for the new Corrections Department headquarters because Pueblo County is home to the largest share of the department's employees. Corrections Director Ari Zavaras says one of the reasons for recommending Colorado Springs was a study of the travel costs to each site. He says he'll review any new information from Pueblo officials. |
