| Inmates to pay $10 medical screening fee |

TEXAS - Crime doesn't pay. But in Dallas County, criminals will. Dallas County commissioners are expected Tuesday morning to approve a new fee for everyone being booked into the Lew Sterrett Justice Center -- a $10 processing fee to help pay for the cost of conducting their medical pre-screening. Every inmate who is booked into the jail is screened for medical issues. During their screening, officers have to stand guard over the inmates.
