TENNESSEE - The Corrections Corporation of America has begun recruiting addiction specialists to run programs that will help drug dependent inmates stay sober. The company has partnered with the National Association for Addiction Treatment Professionals (NAATP) and plans to pay for employee training, in an attempt to recruit the best addiction specialists around. The NAATP, which is the largest organization for addiction counselors, offers a 96-hour training program, and embraces some of the newest methods and philosophies for specialists. “Because we were seeking to provide nationally accepted professional programming, it made sense that the staff we train would benefit from training that, essentially, had been vetted by the best.” says Tim O’Dell, director of CCA’s Addictions Treatments and Behavioral Programs. As CCA addiction specialists work to improve the lives of inmates, it is their hope that their programs help inmates with drug problems to achieve a healthier future. |
