CALIFORNIA - Sheriff deputies and CHP officers hit the streets of Salinas Thursday for the first time since the conception of the new operation. Operation Impact combines Monterey County Sheriff's deputies, CHP officers, and probation officers from the Department of Corrections in a joint effort with Salinas police to quell gang violence in the city. The group of new street officers will be briefed at the Salinas Police Department at 2 p.m. and will hit the streets soon after. Read more.
