Inmates, staff give produce to community

TEXAS - Staff and inmates at Lindsey State Jail have found two more ways to give back to the community of Jacksboro. The recent shortage of volunteer workers at Concerned Citizens of Jack County sparked an idea among staff at the local Corrections Corporation of America facility to use their personal lunch hour, one day a week, to assist with the Meals on Wheels program.

“It’s working out great,” says center director Russonna Jones-Briscoe. “I never know how many will turn out, but we hand out maps for those who have never delivered before and sometimes we can shorten the routes if we have enough volunteers.” Read more.
