Workers clean up landmark

INDIANA - Volunteers and community corrections workers combined their efforts Saturday to clean up the Grassyfork Fisheries building. The former headquarters of the world’s largest producer of goldfish was recently acquired by the Morgan County Historic Preservation Society, a deal that the Ozark Fisheries owner said should be completed by the end of the year.

Joanne Stuttgen, president of the historic preservation society, said 35 to 40 people participated in the process of removing debris and vines that had stretched inside the building. The work began at 9 a.m., and by early afternoon, the volunteer work had been completed, she said. Some work, however, remains to be completed, such as removal of asbestos and water in the basement, Stuttgen said. Read more.
