| Drug court program presented |

KANSAS - District Court Judge Nick St. Peter and employees of Cowley County Community Corrections discussed a proposed 'drug court' program Wednesday before a group of county residents at a Wednesday luncheon. If implemented, the program would offer area felony drug offenders a closely monitored alternative to incarceration with drug treatment, employment, a means to further their education and a fresh start in the community. Among the crowd of about 35 were county commissioners Dick Bonfy and Carmelita Clarkson, Sen. Greta Goodwin and Rep. Ed Trimmer on hand to listen to the presentation. Mary Read, deputy director of Cowley County Community Corrections, said it could be a while before the program takes full flight.
